Perfect Start!

The 2024 MLB regular season is off to the perfect start for the Toronto Blue Jays! The game did not start off so great with Diaz launcing a homer in the first inning for the Rays, but Berrios settled down to go six strong innings and Vladdy blasted a 450 foot bomb in the sixth. Springer and Biggio also blasted bombs and Bichette and Kirk also contributed to an 8-2 win.

My expectaions for this season are for the Jays to be competitive in the ultra tough A.L East, but a lot will be proven during April. The Jays play the likes of the Astros, Yankees and Mariners during the first month of the season and most of their early games are away from home where the stadium is finishing up renovations.

In terms of player performances, I hope Vladdy resorts back to his 2021 form, but I fully expect Kirk to return to his all star form as the number one catcher of the team. Someone to look out for is Bowden Francis who made the team as the fifth starter. He looked very good out of the bullpen last year and should be able to stick in a rotation spot. Nate Pearson also suprisingly made his first major league opening day roster, so hopefully he can stick around for the entire season as well.

Manoah is on his last legs as a Blue Jays and I do not know what to expect from him. He needs to get his head on straight and has not showed much of anything in almost a year and being injured to start the season does not help either. Romano and others are also hurt to start the eason, but they do not seem to long term situations. Gausman is thankfully healthy and should be able to make his first start. I think as he goes, the rotation goes, so keeping him healthy is vital!

The major league season is extremely long and to be honest I wish the season was shorter. Baseball is the sport I observe the most casually during the regular season because of its length and do not take serious until the final month or so of the season. Not to say I ignore the rest of the season, but it is something I watch with minimal intensity and while playing games on my ipad. Regardless, I am looking to see what this team can do and perhaps make things interesting in the playoffs.
