K Popping It Up!

I finally saw the movie that has taken the world by storm and I found it enjoyable. I do not know if it deserves all the hype that it has gotten and a large part of me thinks that it only is as popular as it is because a lot of the K Pop fandom is absolutely nuts. Putting that aside, the movie was fun and the story itself is something that had me wanting to know what happened at the end.
The premise of the movie to me was about the Demon Hunters saving the world from demons and even though this sort of thing has been done time and time again, I have never seen a version that had music as the saving grace. The members of Huntrix all have quirky personalities that ran throughout the movie and the most enjoyable thing for me during this movie were their interactions. They acted like a couple of best friends just hanging out and chilling without a care in the world and it was nice to see. As a matter of the fact the movie opened with one of these scenes and that was a good precursor to the message the movie was trying to send.
My favorite member of the group was Rumi. This is because she reminds me of Rosé from K Pop super group Black Pink. I do not only think she looks like her, but I also think her voice, stage presence and personality sort of blend with how Rosé is. Not that I really know anything about her of course. The other two girls are Zoey and Mira. Zoey is the sensitive one that worries too much and Mira is the mean and more cynical one. I honestly thought that when Rumi was busted for being a demon that Mira and Rumi would have some sort of battle, but that did not happen.

Something I found unnecessary about the movie was the inclusion of the Saja Boys and a rival girl band would have been more appropriate. I understand that the movie wanted to span the entire K Pop arena with both genders being a part of this movie, but for me at least another girl band would have been better.
Jinu for me was also a lacking character. His character went all over the place. From being Rumi's friend to betraying her to being a hero to his family, to abandoning his family. Like make up your damn mind bro! Maybe I am just being a hater now but Mystery's look also was foolish. Where his face at? It would have made more sense to me if the Saja Boys did what Jinu said he would do instead of being a total douche and back stabbing her. The main villain in the movie was Gwi-Ma and I thought he was fine. Every movie needs a creepy looking villain and he fit the bill adequately.
Going into this movie I knew that it would not be as good as its popularity dictates that it would. It was by no means a bad movie, but there were things in this movie that I did not like. The target audience were K pop fans and I do not by any stretch of the imagination pretend to be one. I am not even aware of most of the K pop bands that are out there and I like what I like and that is it.
