It's Just A Game But

My addiction to Marvel Rivals is real but with any game especially a game like this there are some major faults. The biggest fault with this game is the unbalanced nature of ranked matches this current season. I did not play ranked much in the previous seasons, but the second part of this season has been terrible for me. The opposing team typically has at least one player with over 40 kills meanwhile my team is struggling to have a decent damage dealer.

Devs did post a reaction video to all of the attention this issue was causing and players are still angry. From what I gathered players believe that the rank match making system is more based on player engagement and not skill. So basically it focuses on the level the players have reached and not how skilled a player actually is. This does not make sense to me because skilled players use smurf accounts to troll on players with lesser accounts and how the devs are not aware of this is a major sign of ignorance.

I have chatted in lobbies and on discord with players that talk about having smurf accounts because they are bored with their main account so they want to grind on another account. There are also toxic players that make smurf accounts to dominate lesser players which is just a terrible thing to do. Why do something just to make the game miserable for others? That does not make sense to me.

Typically, when I played a ranked match the first thing I notice is the level of my team mates. I think to myself if someone is a lower level that it is going to be a tough go of things, but maybe now that is what I want? Beats me. I do not know what devs can do about this issue because it deals with what people do with their accounts and you can not control how people behave, but clearly something has to be done. Ranked is unplayable for me. It is loss after loss and the matches are not even close.

This is a typical ranked game that I have been dealing with. It is not only the unbalanced teams that is bad, it is the unhappy team mates that hate on me and other players who do not realize what is going on that is even worse. Is that the kind of community that the devs want? One that is angry all the time? I know it is just a game, but if something can be done here, it should be.

My favorite and most commonly played mode in this game is Conquest and that could use some tweaks as well. First off, the queue times can be ridiculously long. Not sure what can be done to fix that since if a bunch of people are playing that mode, then nothing much can be done. But still if something can be done it should be done.

Conquest also needs more map.s Having one map is a joke when the other modes have several maps. It confuses me to why this mode does not have more maps because clearly players are playing it.

I am pretty sure I got MVP during Conquest and I almost always get more kills playing this mode than the other ones. It is low stress and a free for all and it is good for grinding achievements which can net you some pretty cool rewards such as units and even costumes!

The issues with this game for will most likely continue to be there which is upsetting for me, but then again the only reason I want to play ranked is for the free skin you get when you hit Gold. I honestly thought I was going to get there this season since I hit Bronze 1 pretty easily and that is when the game started to hate me and now I am in Bronze 2 with no prospects of wanting to play ranked anymore. Oh well!
