Down To The Wire

The Blue Jays offence has been a total disappointment this season minus the performances of Bichette and the recently called up Davis Schneider. Schneider got off to a record breaking start and continues to perform very well, but at the end of the day the stars of this team have been underwhelming.

Vladdy has decent R.B.I numbers and has an outside shot at 100, but across the board he has been one of the worst first basemen in all of baseball. I just took a quick look at the statistics for first basemen in the MLB and basically every team has a guy playing first that has better numbers than Vlad. Bohm, Paredes, Naylor and Lowe all have put up statistics that the Toronto star can only dream of. Even his defence has been bad, coming off a gold glove season.

He has heated up recently and for the Jays to have any shot to make a wild card spot, he will need to stay hot. Especially with Bo and Chapman hurt, he will need to lead the team to the promised land.

The lack of offence from the team is even more disappointing when you take into consideration how dominant the team's pitching staff has been. From the starters to the closer it has been the best in baseball all year. However, with a scuffling line up the team currently sits 2.5 games out of a play off spot and will need to get hot to have a sniff at the post season.

This is possible since the team's schedule is extremely easy and only the Rays and Rangers are currently in a playoff position and the rest of the games are against some of the worst teams in baseball. The likes of the Athletics, Royals and Rockies are simply put teams that the Jays need to sweep to ensure a trip to October baseball. I am going with the thought that anything is possible. It is about time this offene woke up and showed what it is capable of and it is not too late to do so. GO JAYS GO!
